Running 101

Running. The sport just like walking.Only faster. Sometimes running can be boring. I definitely agree with that statement. But,honestly,it can be fun too. In my city, we have an athletics store that runs a group run every Thursday. I have recently found out,and yes I AM admitting it,I like to run. Sure it makes you tired.Have you ever thought of the good things it does to you and your lifestyle.Forming good habits, being healthier, feeling good about yourself are just some of the things. I am not an athletic person, but you know what? I jogged three miles yesterday and it felt awesome. So if you aren't a fantastic runner, who cares? Is not practicing going to help?NO. So my advice is try to find a group to run with every week or just find a friend with the same goals as you.Even running around the park for a half an hour.   Try it. You never know, you might like it.There are a few things you should know before you start running:

-If you run at night(like me) you NEED reflectors. They have reflective vests, arm bands and blinkers especially made for running.Make sure you have these so a car can see you when running.I advise always running with a group, not alone.

-Wear proper gear. Are you going to run around in high heels or a dress?I think not.Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.

-Water.Water is a needed thing on any run.Dehydration is not good and can result in fainting, nausea, and headache. You need water at all times available to you.

-Stretch before a run.Stretching is great before running because it prepares your muscles for the exercise.

One more thing. If you get tired and you want to quit, try focusing on your breathing. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Try to set goals, like I will jog to the next stoplight. Then give yourself some time to speedwalk. Or just jog all the way through. Push yourself, but not to hard so that you hate the sport. Okay, that's it for today. Good luck future runners!:)
