Subway Not Up To The Status Quo

Subway. The world's largest fast food chain with 380,000 locations. Lately, Subway has been receiving a bad reputation for there "footlong" sub being only 11 inches. "What's in an inch? Apparently, enough missing meat, cheese and tomatoes to cause an uproar." That's what news everywhere says, including Yahoo! News. A man posted a pic on Subway's Facebook of a footlong sub sitting by a ruler stating it was only 11 inches...only about 92% of the length of a foot.

Subway has said the "11 inches Subway crisis" by saying the length of the sub may vary. According to Subway, they bake all their bread at each Subway location and sometimes is not up to Subway chain's exact rules. When I saw that article, I burst out laughing! It is hilarious how everyone caught Subway making 11/12 of a foot sub. I especially love that missing inch quote above the picture. I always get a 6 inch sub when I go to eat at Subway. Does this mean my 6 inch sub is only a 5 1/2 inch sub? Guess I have to bring a ruler to my next visit to Subway. I just might too.:)

I think Subway learned their lesson, and I definitely wouldn't make another 11 inch sub if I were you Subway.

Make Your Own "Learn It" Box

I have figured out an easy way to study/learn something. I wanted to learn French and this has helped me a lot.Make a take-along mint tin! What you'll need:

-a mint tin(I used an ALTOIDS tin)
-a little bit of tape(optional)
-printed pages, index cards(with info on the subject)

I also taped a smaller study sheet on French colors to the lid.It was fun to be able to study French when I had 2 minutes to spare. You can learn anything with this method; vocabulary, languages, or maybe you want to study for that project in to weeks. I loved that I could just put it in my pocket or purse for something to do in those spare moments. My idea turned out really well.:)

Coupons,Coupons,Coupons

I am a girl who coupons now. Yep. But not like that obsessive "extreme couponing", that would just be weird. Even though (yes I am admitting it) I like the TLC show "Extreme Couponing".  I just think it is fun to save on my food and household items. I have picked up a few tips. Did you know:

- If there is a five (like the example) listed first under the bar code, it is able to double(if your store allows it). If there is a nine (where the five is), then it cannot be doubled.

Anyway, I am not saying you should go out and coupon like crazy. I am just saying couponing IS effective and CAN help you in a money crisis. I will be honest with you, I have a deal with my parents. Every coupon we use, I get paid for. My parents don't have time to clip coupons, so I do the coupon cutting of the family. I am busy too so I don't do as well as I could, but I still feel great when I save money with coupons. That's why I like to coupon. That great feeling you receive when you save.

On The Road

I was on the road (as you probably guessed) and thought maybe people want to know how to make life simpler on the road...whether it's a 2 hour drive or a 20 hour drive. I have found a few links/tips/ ideas to make life easier on the road.

Crowded Car/ "I can't reach stuff!":
What I do is have a bag for things I will need most. Here's what is usually in my bag:

 -Entertainment (electronics, books, and magazines)
- Car Chargers
-A notebook/pencil (for ideas and writing)
-Pillow
- Earphones
Having a bag of whatever you need most on a trip will help you stay organized and will prevent you from having to climb over everything for one thing

We ate out once this time at Subway. I was surprised at how good my sandwich was.

Also, we make a snack bag. We put crackers, nuts, and sandwiches. This is how my family gets along on the road... hope it helps!

Movie With Themed Dinner

One thing my family likes to do is have family movie nights. Yeah, I know, a lot of families do. The thing is, we put a little spin on it. We pick out a movie, usually a family favorite, or maybe one we haven't seen. Then we find a food that goes with the theme/or setting. For our first time we picked Madagascar and made calzones. We made calzones because the animals live in New York. In New York, calzones are one of the popular foods to eat. They were really good... and we enjoyed watching the movie as a family. We also got to make the calzones together... which was fun too. Here's a recipe to pizza calzones:
Pepperoni and Mozzarella Calzones @ recipetips.com

If you don't have time to make the dough, you can buy refrigerated/boxed pizza dough like we did. They were still really good.

Here are some other movie night with meals ideas:
Nacho Libre- Corn on the Cob
Lady and the Tramp- Spaghetti
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs- Giant Meatballs and Jello
